What is multiplex sequencing?

< Back

Some researchers may only have one or two samples that need to be sequenced. However, with the price of consumables and facility overhead, sequencing a single sample is often cost-prohibitive in normal sequencing lab settings. Multiplex sequencing at The Sequencing Center is a great option for researchers who aren’t under a time crunch but are price sensitive.

Multiplexing is when we group multiple sequencing projects into a single run at a fixed, per-sample rate. In order to be cost-effective for our clients, we required a certain number of samples for each run, which is determined based on the sequencing type and genome size. We offer complimentary sample storage in our freezers for all samples until we have coordinated a multiplex run.
